Tyvek is a synthetic form of material made from flashspun high density polyethylene fibers. The material is very strong, but at the same time, easily cut by a sharp blade or scissors. The fibers which make up the tyvek also allow water vapor to pass through but not liquid water, this makes the bags ideal for the storage of damp soil or sediment samples, especially if you plan on drying said samples in a lab oven.
